About

I founded Lumen after watching something happen to people I admired, and then to myself. Capable people at the top of an organisation get separated from their own judgement by pace, by accumulated reflexes and by the sheer number of decisions in a day, and almost nobody around them can say so without cost. What was missing in those situations was a partnership that took the complexity of the role seriously and the person carrying it equally seriously.

Experience

I was an associate partner at McKinsey, global head of strategy at The LEGO Group, and most recently a managing director at Publicis Sapient, leading strategy across Europe through the AI disruption of a large digital business while accountable for its results. That last part shapes how I work, because I rebuilt how I thought and worked while the outcomes were still mine.

Practice

My attention and focus are grounded in twenty years of meditation practice and a silent retreat each year, which is what lets me stay in an unresolved question long enough for something true to arrive.

Outside the work

I volunteer at FoodCycle in White City and I am a trustee at Standing Tall, which moves people out of homelessness through work and housing, and both are a fixed part of my week. Meditation, philosophy of physics and the emptiest places I can get to, the Highlands or the Nevada desert, are the same enquiry for me, into what the mind is and what is actually going on.
